Construction of Rheinfelden Run-of-River Hydropower Plant, Germany
The new run-of-river hydropower plant replaced the Rheinfelden Hydropower Plant on the High Rhine that was over 100 years old. Energiedienst AG contracted an engineering joint venture headed by Fichtner to undertake planning and engineering for erection of the 75 x 85 m powerhouse, deepening of the Rhine riverbed and demolition of the old power house. The joint venture also had to work out compensatory measures.
