Pile testing campaign for an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, Germany

In preparation for wind farm construction off the coast of Rügen, the pile bearing behavior of the foundation structure was evaluated. To do this, the building contractor installed two test piles each at three locations and took measurements at these. After a ten-week settling phase the piles were subjected to tensile and compressive tests. Fichtner prepared the working instructions for conducting the trials and, with the aid of ramming simulations, made all necessary preliminary measurements for installation. We also participated in conducting the tests on board the installation vessel, and evaluated, interpreted and summarized the test results. For this purpose, we developed a ramming simulation model that we verified and calibrated on the basis of the ramming data and the results of trial loading.
