Geotechnical investigations for construction of a sewer culvert, Germany

The Hamburg City Sanitation Department is planning to construct a new sewer culvert under the U1 subway route in the vicinity of the main road Rothenbaumchaussee. For this purpose, our geotechnical engineers undertook geotechnical investigations, including a wide-ranging lab analysis program. On this basis, within the context of a geotechnical assessment opinion, Fichtner worked out recommendations for construction. We paid particular attention to planning this demanding project and controlling the settling behavior around the existing subway line.
