Selected project examples

Due to the rapidly growing domestic demand and dynamic electricity markets in and around Laos, Fichtner supported the Government of Lao PDR in developing the hydropower planning and management capacity needed to ensure long-term sustainability of water resource management and the hydropower sector. Fichtner developed and applied a methodology for assessing avoided generation cost when purchasing power from BOT projects, developed and applied a least-cost power generation expansion model, and provided capacity building through training in the application of these planning tools and methods.
