Project review and optimization program, Germany
Fichtner undertook a critical analysis of the major twenty-year project “The New Emscher Valley” which has a total budget of approximately €4.5 billion. The review aim was to determine the present status regarding budget and timetable, and to make a projection up to project conclusion. To follow up this review, potentials for making savings and cutting costs in projects that are ongoing and that can still be influenced were identified by applying value engineering techniques, so that the budget overrun was limited to 5%.
