New cooling water treatment system, Germany

At its Ludwigshafen operating site, BASF is implementing a new plant for river water treatment. For this purpose, a water intake structure in the River Rhine and a pumping station connected to the existing plant network is to be constructed, which require extensive measures to safeguard the integrity of the construction pit in the river. Also particularly noteworthy are the driving operation for the two DN2600 pipes, the extension of the works network in a heavily built up industrial location and the intake structure in the immediate vicinity of the jetty with fish return installation. Fichtner was contracted to prepare project planning and structural engineering for these structures as well as additional planning services for various construction pits on the works property.
