Evaluation of heating options in residential and institutional buildings, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
Most buildings of the Central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are heated electrically, which exacerbates the power shortage in winter. To remedy this situation, Fichtner was appointed by the World Bank to identify alternative heating options and related energy efficiency measures in urban dwellings and institutional buildings. For this purpose, Fichtner first prepared a general overview of urban building and heating structures throughout both countries. Next, in four representative cities, it examined the supply and demand situation. Finally, Fichtner developed workable solutions with the participation of the various stakeholders.
