Conceptual study of energy recovery from biomass in a dairy, Germany

Due to the high demand for heat, in particular in the form of steam, an international manufacturer of dairy products is reviewing options for providing the energy that it needs for the various processes. Planned is construction and operation of a biomass-fired steam turbine power plant with cogeneration of heat and power. Fichtner conducted a conceptual study into available technologies with the aim of generating steam, heat and power by firing biomass and sewage sludge, for which purpose various options and scenarios are investigated and assessed.
