Strengthening generation expansion planning and policy making capacity in the hydropower sector, Laos
The Government of Lao PDR was supported in developing the hydropower planning and management capacity needed to the hydropower sector. Development of hydropower potentials has to be reconciled with water resource management requirements and ecological constraints. Fichtner developed and applied a methodology for assessing avoided generation cost as well as a least-cost power generation expansion model.
