Feasibility study for the use of an existing natural gas storage facility for storing hydrogen

As an option for the chemical storage of energy, hydrogen is expected to play a key role in the energy systems of the future. Against this background, Fichtner developed a concept study for a hydrogen-based energy storage system. In the technical part of the assignment, the system was planned and its operational characteristics defined. The economic part analysed the potential business models of such a system and identified the constraints under which they should be followed up.
