Seawater desalination plants powered by solar thermal energy, Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Arabian research facility and project development company K.A.CARE is jointly developing with the Saline Water Conversion Cooperation (SWCC) seawater desalination plants that are to be operated with renewable energies. In an initial step, the heating steam supply from two existing multi-effect distillation plants is to be partially substituted by solar-generated steam. Fichtner´s project team will first review and evaluate the various technological approaches before then developing two concepts for each plant location. As there is still no legal or organizational framework for the planned project implementation, it will first be necessary to develop a new project structure.
