Fichtner supports TenneT power transmission projects
TenneT TSO GmbH awarded Fichtner with a framework contract called “ProVAN2” for 14 power transmission projects. The framework contract covers services in the areas of approval, project preparation, project execution and construction supervision of overhead lines for onshore projects within the entire TenneT grid area in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Hesse and Bavaria.
The projects will be supported over more than nine years in the period from October 2021 to December 2030 in Fichtner's “Linear Infrastructures” project area. We have tailored our organization to line projects and bundled approval know-how with execution expertise in one business unit. In this way, our customers receive project processing across all phases from a single source. We look forward to make TenneT's various grid expansion projects a success and, in particular, to continuing to work with TenneT's project teams.
Fichtner and DIgSILENT Conclude Cooperation Agreement
On June 30, 2021 Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG, Germany and DIgSILENT Pacific Pty Ltd., Australia concluded a cooperation agreement. DIgSILENT specializes in the field of electrical power system analyses in the field of electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems as well as distribution systems for e.g. transmission system operators, mining companies and industrial players. Fichtner provides consulting engineering worldwide also in the fields of hydrogen, renewable energy projects, energy from waste and anaerobic digestion, waste management, energy storage and hybrid power systems, desalination and conventional energy. The Parties have unique technical capabilities in complementary but also joint areas and have teamed together to utilize their combined capability to jointly pursue opportunities to provide services on a case by case basis on projects in Australia and New Zealand. The Parties will retain their own business identity but will share office space in Sydney, Australia.
Fichtner and SeaRenergy as the Platform Support Team for TenneT
Following an EU tender against international competition, a consortium consisting of Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG and SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH & Cie. KG has been awarded a contract by TenneT covering design reviews for checking, commenting on and approving designs and documents within the scope of the project BorWin5 to deliver and construct the offshore HVDC converter platform BorWin epsilon. Fichtner will lead the consortium and take responsibility for secondary technology and safety-related topics within the platform support team, including conceptual consultancy services. SeaRenergy will be responsible for all structural, steelwork and T&I matters such as feasibility supervision of the transport and installation concept. The team, which has already worked together for TenneT in 2015 and 2017, is looking forward to the joint project of the next five years.
Accredited Wind & Site Assessments
We are pleased to announce that in February 2021 Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG obtained from DAkkS accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for various services in the field of wind and site assessment. The scope is listed in the annex to the certificate. Via the ILAC Mutual Recognition Agreement the accreditation is recognized worldwide. The technical competence of the Wind Power Department and the audited procedures and methods applied serve to provide our clients with impartial and highly reliable bankable results throughout a the project´s life-cycle.
Agreement for the construction of an offshore wind power project in Taiwan
Fichtner is proud to have supported Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) as technical advisor for their co-invest together with Cathay Private Equity in the 605 MW Greater Changhua 1 Offshore Wind Farm.
We are also very pleased to continue providing technical advice to CDPQ as owner’s engineer during the construction phase.
World´s largest PV offshore floating plant is completed and online
After 16 months of construction, the Changhua 181 MWp off-shore floating photovoltaic (PV) plant located on Taiwan’s west coast and developed by Chenya Energy has been completed. On this project, Fichtner provided Technical Advisory Services to Marubeni during an M&A process. The Changhua plant is one of several floating and ground mounted PV projects for which Fichtner has provided engineering consultancy services. Thanks to Fichtner’s interdisciplinary capabilities, challenges on this unique project such as the offshore location with its harsh weather conditions were successfully dealt with.

Fichtner at the EU Hydrogen Online Forum
The EU Hydrogen Online Forum in the UAE: Hydrogen, the Energy Carrier of the Future was presented by the Delegation of the European Union to the United Arab Emirates and the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network. At the forum that took place on 25 November 2020 our expert of Hydrogen, Dr. Florian Klumpp, spoke about “Green Hydrogen – Transport as enabler for viable value chains and an energy partnership between GCC and EU”.

The increasing complexity of power systems and penetration of equipment based on power electronics pose new challenges for the stability of operation and the quality of power supply. These aspects lead to the need for in-depth power system analysis, especially for transient phenomena. With the simulation platform Fichtner SimLab with complete infrastructure (hard- and software) we support you as a neutral moderator with our technical know-how to ensure network stability and provide the necessary data security.
Tunisia first solar park
Tunisia announces the grid-connection of the 10 MW facility in the south of the country. Fichtner is proud of having supported the state-owned utility Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz (STEG). The project was financed by the German development bank KFW. On another project, record low-priced proposals have been obtained in Tunisia’s IPP tender process. Here, Fichtner supported the German development agency GIZ as Technical Advisor.
BIM – 3D planning in all project phases
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is used to create a digital model containing all the relevant planning data. It allows for an interconnected way of working that makes the planning and construction process efficient and transparent using three-dimensional data models. We apply this method in numerous projects, e.g. for planning substations.
Visit to landfill construction site
Dr. Peter Schoof, the new German ambassador to Indonesia, visited the construction site of the landfill in Sidoarjo, Java, at the end of April and was accompanied by the head of the Indonesian KfW office, Angela Tormin. The ‘Emission Reduction In Cities’ project is financed by KfW and currently comprises three different construction sites, two of which are in East Java and one in Sumatra.
Guide to Renewable Energy
With the assistance of engineers from Fichtner, the German Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI) has published an international guide on the possibilities and potential of various kinds of renewable energies. It explains the state of the art in generating and using renewable energies and presents detailed project planning processes. The guide has been released in German and English and is intended to facilitate the planning and implementation of renewable energy projects both inside and outside of Germany.
Jordan’s biggest solar PV power plant comes on stream
With the start-up of Quweira 103 MW Photovoltaic Power Plant in the south of the country, the Jordanian government took a further step in implementing its ambitious renewable energies development plan. Acting as Owner’s Engineer, Fichtner provided assistance to the project.
