Implementation, introduction and porting of the integrated INES energy management system, Energie AG Oberösterreich, Upper Austria

For optimal support of planning and operational tasks, Fichtner IT Consulting was commissioned by Energie AG Oberösterreich to implement and introduce an energy management database, an efficient energy use optimization system and a forecasting tool. For this purpose, commercially available systems and our own solutions EMSY-KWK and Prognose were tailored to the needs of the project and were introduced. In order to bring the integrated INES energy management system into line with the latest data processing developments, Energie AG Oberösterreich commissioned Fichtner IT Consulting to port the integrated INES energy management system. The system integrates the operational energy data pools of Energie AG and provides extensive functions for data analysis, forecasts and energy resources planning.

Development and implementation of an integrated environmental information system for the Environment Ministry in Lithuania

Through joining the EU, Lithuania finds itself engaged in a rapid process of adaptation and modernization. EU standards must be complied with, reporting obligations must be met and decision-making bases must be secured. In order to support efficient environmental management, Fichtner was awarded the contract to develop and introduce an environmental information system (EIS) for meeting the requirements of the EU and of the Lithuanian Government as well as for informing the public. This system integrates data from over ten different sources, including data on air pollution control, forestry, groundwater protection and preservation of biodiversity, and generates reports automatically. The environment-related data are entered, accessed and evaluated directly online. A portal which is integrated in the system helps the Environment Ministry to meet its reporting obligations vis-a-vis the EU and other organizations as well as in internal and external communications. The EIS is the central portal for all environment-related data in Lithuania and serves as the national information hub within the pan-European environmental information and monitoring network.

 

Implementation of a Customer Management System, Gasversogung Süddeutschland GmbH, Germany

With regard to the liberaization of the energy market, the gas supply utility Gasversorgung Süddeutsch-land GmbH, with the support of Fichtner IT Consulting, implemented a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system for optimum administration and tracking of new and existing customers. The system is ba-sed on a standard CRM software and was installed jointly with the software manufacturer. The applica-tion is currently expanded. The CRM system provides a sustained improvement of marketing and sales activities, so enhancing the client’s efficiency, productivity and flexibility.

Energy-economic contract controlling for retail distributor SALES of Vattenfall Europe Sales GmbH, Germany
To provide Vattenfall Europe Sales, Berlin, with the means to efficiently maintain an overview of all current customer contracts in the sector of retail distribution, a database-supported information and evaluation system has been developed. In a joint collaboration with our client, our consultants conceived a system for assigning procurement costs that is fair to cost generators and in conformity with contract. The basis was an economic assessment of contracts and products with a multi-step contribution margin calculation. Our experts have developed special mathematical procedures for assigning procurement costs and forecast revenues to the complex products that have been sold, and have made available to management and client advisers specific reporting functionalities, so that users in the field could be supported more effectively.

Selection and customization of a scaleable CRM solution based on openCRX for the Bavarian Administration of Surveying and Mapping, Germany
On the basis of a bidding process, the Bavarian Administration of Surveying and Mapping (Landesamt für Vermessung und Geoinformation Bayern) selects an openCRX-based customer relationship management system (CRM-system). openCRX is at the core of a push to optimize customer relationship management processes throughout the Bavarian Administration of Surveying and Mapping. The CRM solution provides high-quality real-time customer information and is essential in managing and controlling marketing activities. All relevant data (customers and contact information, products, and orders) are stored in a database powered by PostgreSQL, an Open Source database management system.
In a first phase, employess of the Bavarian Administration of Surveying and Mapping who are responsible for distribution will use the web-based CRM-system. In second phase, all employees of the agencies and branches of the Bavarian Administration of Surveying and Mapping, located all over Bavaria, will be granted access to the openCRX-based CRM-system.

Light rail track switch maintenance, Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG, Germany

The client provides public transport in the City of Dresden. Its light rail system has a total track length of 270 km, making it one of the biggest such networks in Germany, with over 700 switches. Ensuring a ser-vice that caters for around 400,000 passengers per day is based on innovative maintenance manage-ment. For this purpose, Fichtner IT Consulting implements a rule-based system for automated planning of maintenance tasks for servicing, cleaning and inspecting track switches. The database-backed system has now been in operation for several years and has decisively streamlined procedures for planning, car-rying out and documenting maintenance. There are plans to link this system with SAP business man-agement software for booking jobs and with mobile terminals for maintenance fitters.

 

Vegetation control management - Deutsche Bahn AG: DB Netz AG and Rail Environment Center, Germany

Permitting and approval authorities (Federal Railways Office), politicians and environmental associations are calling for the transparent documentation of chemical vegetation control in the track area of Deutsche Bahn AG. In addition to the description and documentation of the vegetation cover along the tracks as a basis for planning and decision-making, this also includes the recording of implemented vegetation control measures according to type and quantity.
This information is visualized using the proven GeoXtension Web technology of Fichtner IT Consulting, which makes geodata available in a standard browser without the need for software installation. The basis is the standardized Oracle Spatial database with modern 3-tier application server technology.

Integration of an energy data management system for Vattenfall Europe, Germany

Following the integration of a newly acquired power utility into the Vattenfall Europe Group, it was necessary for the company's existing energy data management system (EDM system) to be brought into line with the new system landscape at Business Unit Sales within Vattenfall Europe. The contract for organization and implementation of the project involved, in particular, the adaptation of the subsystems which had to be integrated, so that the time series could be imported and administered without problem into the existing Vattenfall structure . The contract also included management of the "Testing / Training" project team, which was responsible for performance testing of the new system and training of the employees.

PROCON - redesign of project management system for road construction, Regional Authority for Roads and Transport, Hesse, Germany

At the Hesse Regional Authority for Roads and Transport, there are a large number of systems with, in some cases, redundant data and functions. These old systems are to be replaced on the basis of the IT guidelines applicable to the Hesse Road and Traffic Administration (HSVV). The purpose of PROCON, a project information and management system, is to administer for the duration of the project those data which are recorded and processed from the planning stage through to contract award. PROCON is intended as a tool which both facilitates work on the project and also processes the most important management information for project managers and chief officers. The new system is intended to make all the basic project-related information available over the intranet in the form of a browser-based solution.

Optimized Business Processes in Customer Management for a Gas Utility (GVG) in Germany

GVG’s objective is optimum support of customers and streamlining the related business processes on the technical and sales sides. Fichtner supported GVG in implementing off-the-shelf customer relations management (CRM) software and adapted the computerized procedures for all business transactions with its customers. This will enable GVG to respond promptly to customer inquiries, provide higher service quality, obtain full information on ongoing business processes, and ensure higher efficiency of business handling. Consequently, the gas supplier will improve its market position vis-ŕ-vis competitors, to win customers in the deregulated gas market.

Adaptation, introduction and extension of the EMSY energy management system, DREWAG Stadtwerke Dresden GmbH, Germany

In order to ensure optimal load management of its assets, DREWAG commissioned Fichtner IT Consulting to implement and introduce the EMSY energy management system. The system includes load management optimization as well as heat load forecasting and is used to optimize the operation of assets in consideration of the technical and economic parameters/constraints. Owing to the changed situation as a result of liberalization of the energy markets, DREWAG commissioned Fichtner IT Consulting to extend the EMSY system to include functions for the liberalized energy markets. For the use of these functions, our consultants helped DREWAG to extend the existing optimization and forecasting models.

Implementation of a wastewater cadastre, Wacker-Chemie GmbH, Germany

Fichtner IT Consulting was commissioned by WACKER to implement a wastewater cadastre. SAMBA (application for site wastewater management and reporting) is specifically tailored to WACKER's needs. The main purpose of SAMBA is the entry, archiving, evaluation and display of all data required for the preparation of wastewater statements as well as centralized wastewater monitoring. SAMBA was implemented as a database-supported, interactive, multi-user-capable software system under JAVA. Oracle is used as the database.

Quality assurance and operational project management for the introduction of SAP R/3 and IS-U, badenova AG & Co. KG, Germany

Within the framework of the introduction of SAP R/3 for optimization of the business processes of badenova AG und Co. KG, Fichtner IT Consulting was awarded the contract for quality assurance in relation to the R/3 project. Our consultants attached prime importance to making the processes as uniform and simple as possible while achieving maximum integration of the R/3 modules. In phase 2 of the project, we took over operational project management and were also entrusted with introducing IS-U throughout the badenova company.

Development of a water resources management information system, local authorities association for regional water supply, Stuttgart, Germany

Fichtner IT Consulting was commissioned by the local authorities association for regional water supply to develop an application for the convenient and high-performance administration of the extensive pool of measured data and subsequently to implement the linking of graphical and non-graphical data in the GeoMedia geo-information system. The data from the available data sources can now be analyzed jointly, thereby acquiring considerable added value.
